No Excuse To Procrastinate On Homework-

You won’t have to hear “But Mom, I can’t do my homework now!” though, they might need some reminding from time to time. But, they have a totally awesome desk, sitting in their own special space, waiting for them underneath their loft bed, making it much more of a pleasure for them to use.

In all seriousness, buying a loft bed with a desk underneath will surely put you in the running for the coolest parents of the year! It is a great tool to help modernize your home and help your children create a special place in their bedroom that is their own unique space. When children have a room that they love to “escape” to, it also brings lots of much needed alone time for the King and Queen of the household!

Mattress for Your Loft Bed

Most loft beds that you purchase, do not come with a mattress included in the price, so you will need to ensure that you include the cost of a mattress when considering the cost of buying a loft bed.

Just as loft beds can be variable from simple to very attractive styles, the same applies to mattresses.   There are basic types of mattresses through to more plush styles, but whatever you choose, needs to be comfortable, as well as within your budget.

We spend a lot of time in bed, and so it's important to make sure we choose a mattress that is comfortable so that we can get a good night's sleep, and not just any one that is the correct size to fit in the loft bed, but can lead us to feeling tired and grumpy in the mornings due to pain and stiffness, and not getting a good night's sleep. A mattress that we are uncomfortable on, could also lead to spinal issues in the future.

The type of mattress that suits each one of us is a very individual thing.  Some prefer the conventional spring box type mattress, whilst others prefer a memory foam mattress, or a latex mattress.

Spring Box Mattresses

Many people prefer the spring box style mattress because it has been a popular favorite for many years, and this is the style so many are used to.  However, some people are open to consider other styles of mattresses when it comes to replacing their old one, due to the fact that spring mattresses also have a reputation for the springs sagging over a period of time, and can cause considerable discomfort.

Memory foam Mattresses

One type of mattress that has grown in popularity of late is the memory foam mattress.  This mattress is made up of varying densities of foam from top to bottom, and is an attractive material for many, as it provides a softer comfortable feel the moment you climb into bed, and who doesn't like as much comfort as they can get when they go to bed?  Due to the comfort these mattresses offer, they can be the answer for those that experience many aches and pains in their bodies.  However, there is one particular issue with them, and that is that foam tends to be a hot material to lay on, so it may not be an appropriate mattress for those who easily feel hot in bed.  To over come this problem, some manufacturers have incorporated air tunnels into the mattress to help the mattress to breathe, and thus be more comfortable to lay on.

A Guide to Buying a Cheap Loft Bed

Like many other items you want to purchase, cheap loft beds are available, but it's important to consider if there is a tradeoff between quality and price. However, since loft beds can have safety issues for your family, there is a need to look closely at the pros and cons of buying a cheap loft bed over a more expensive one.  If there are safety issues in purchasing a cheap loft bed, then this may be false economy.

Buyers should look for the best-priced loft beds rather than simply cheap loft beds. Buying a good quality bed implies that buyers will seek high-quality beds at the best price, rather than simply shopping on price for the cheapest loft bed.. If you look around, particularly online, it should be possible to find high-quality loft beds at reasonable prices. Online retailers do not have to pay the high cost of traditional showrooms and/or a commissioned sales staff, and therefore, can pass on the savings to their customers.

If they can, it is a good idea to ask others what beds they have purchased, and what they think of the quality of the bed. You may even be able to see a used bed after it has had considerable use, to see how well they are performing with regular use. Doing your research online, you should be able to get an idea of whether a manufacturer has a good reputation as to the quality of the beds they make. In addition, beds should be inspected regularly after purchase to ensure that they stay in top shape and any problems that are noticed should be remedied as soon as possible.

To summarize, buying an inexpensive loft bed is certainly an option, particularly if you make sure the bed is well constructed using quality materials, but do make sure that the bed is a quality one even if it is cheap. Likewise, like any bed, it is important to continuously inspect it to ensure whether or not it requires maintenance during its use. Be sure not to shop just on price alone, since poor quality beds unfortunately have serious safety risks on your family that are using it.

Chair for Your Loft Bed Desk

One thing that does need to be considered for the desk, and that is a chair for your desk.  Like lighting, this can have important consequences if your child needs to sit at the desk for long hours of study or computer work.

I notice, from television reports, that chiropractors are noting that they are seeing an increase, in their practice, of young patients.  These children are ones that are devoting lots of time to their ipads and computers etc, constantly sitting hunched up playing compter games or studying. This is causing a number of back problems such as back pain and hunched shoulders similiar to what an elderly person experiences.  Quite a problem really considering their young age, and with the rest of their lives to go living with such problem.

This is a good reason alone to consider an appropriate chair for your desk.  A chair that will support a good posture for your child, as such a chair can help reduce the fatigue that your child may experience due to long periods of study whilst in a hunched position.

You may not need to give serious concern to a chair if the desk is not being used for long periods of time.  In this instance an ordinary dining chair, or something similiar may be all that is needed if this is the case.

However if you are looking to provide a good supporting seat for your child, then it's best to look in stores that provide office equipment rather than stores that provide home furniture.  Office stores provide a better choice of chairs for this purpose, and their ranges can vary from modest priced ergonomic chairs to luxury executive style chairs.  One point when looking for a chair though, and that is to make sure your child's feet can reach the floor when they are sitting in the chair, so a chair that can be adjusted to suit your child's height will be a great idea.

If a chair is needed for your young one to sit at the desk, you should be able to find one that will suit your needs quite easily due to the large range that is available today.

Metal Loft Beds

Metal is a popular choice of furniture and appliances in many homes today.  It can fit in with a number of room decors, and always looks sleek and smart.  One reason it is a popular construction material in the home is because it fits in with homes that are built or decorated in a contemporary design.

The most common color that these beds are available in, is a black matted finish, however you will find the occasional one with a black gloss finish, or silver finish.  These colors though will fit in with most room colors.  In addition, for those who feel inclined, it is possible, with a can of spray paint, to spray a metal bed with another color you may prefer.

Metal loft beds generally take up less space than a wooden one, so if your bedroom is very much on the small size, then a metal bed will probably be your best choice. It may even enable you to fit in an extra set of drawers, or a slim wardrobe to store clothing.

Many people are concerned that a metal bed may be squeaky once someone is using it to sleep, however many of the modern beds are built well, and in such a way that squeaking is eliminated, making for a good night's sleep. Whichever bed you choose, check to see what others have had to say about the squeaking issue before you make your purchase.

One thing to keep in mind when making your selection, is to think in advance for the person you are purchasing it for.  If you are buying it for a growing child or teenager, ensure you buy a bed big enough for them to allow for their growth.  Will it take their weight, and height as they grow?  It would be a waste of money to purchase a bed that they will outgrow in just a couple of years.

With some careful thought about purchasing this useful addition for a bedroom, you will find this item will last you for many years to come.

Desk Lamps for Your Loft Bed with a Desk

One thing you will probably need to think about for your desk, and that is a light for it. With a bed on top of your desk, it will probably cut out some of the much needed light from the desk you will need.

It's necessary to give this a lot of thought, as it's essential to provide really good light to stop any eye strain that could develop through poor lighting. However, your needs could vary when considering which light to buy. If the bed is being used for small children, then it is highly unlikely they will be using the study area for long periods of time, but if the loft bed is being used for an older child who will be using the desk for long periods of study, then it's best to consider the better quality lighting that has been specially designed to provide light that's easy on the eyes.

There is so much selection available these day. Starting with a basic style which will simply provide you with light to enable a child to see what they are doing, to a light which has been specially constructed to provide light which imitates day light. These are probably the best selection for the serious student who will be studying for long periods of time. In addition these lights can be dimmed, allowing for each person's individual needs.

It's important to take lighting seriously, because if the lighting is poor, it could result in headaches, deteriorating eyesight, or other health issues including facial muscle tension, especially around the jaw. A tense jaw can cause all sorts of problems – teeth grinding, neck pain and more. I know this from experience as I now have to wear a dental appliance in my mouth to help my jaw relax and stop it trying to clench together constantly.

There are many styles of lights available today, from contemporary, to fashion and fun styles, and also a number of classic styles, so you will very likely find one that suits your requirements easily.

Wooden Loft Beds

Many people really enjoy the look of wood furniture in their homes, and when considering a loft bed, are attracted to these beds made with wood.

I too think wood is an attractive material, as I find the look of wood, warming and welcoming, and has a look that can't be substituted with anything else.  This is one of the benefits of having the bed made of wood – it simply looks nicer than a metal bed, but only if you have a conservative nature.  For those who prefer their home in a contemporary style, they might still prefer a metal bed to fit in with the rest of their décor.

Although metal beds can be sturdy, they possibly wouldn't compare with the sturdiness of a wooden bed.  This is especially so, with beds that have steps leading up to the bed on top.  Some of these have steps that are quite large and wide.  This offers a secure method of reaching the bed, especially for smaller children.  Metal beds often just have rungs to reach the bed, therefore making it easier to have an accident due to a foot slipping on the way up or down.

One thing to keep in mind though if you are considering a wooden bed, and that is if you have a creative child, it is easier for them to put their own mark on a wooden bed, than it is for them to do the same with a metal bed.  One lady was telling me, that their son enjoyed carving, and therefore used his wooden bed for his artistic efforts.  Needless to say, she thought afterward that a metal bed would have been a better choice in her instance.

There are some very attractive wooden loft beds around, and it shouldn't be too difficult to find one that you will find attractive both for their looks and their price.
